As the evening sky began to glow a mixture of pinks and purples, golds and oranges... A small soul was seen, travelling alone apon the sandy shores of the beach. As the tide pulled in, foamy aqua splashed over her tiny creme-colored hooves.
Sad and alone, Plymouth was only a mere week old. Her parents had beens killed a few days before. She felt lost and afraid... Yet she felt so weak, unable to flee from danger. She had travelled a long way from her forested home.
She felt dizzy, from lack of food and over-excessive energy use. Pain filled her small body... Yet she had to find her parents. To her young mind, they were out there somewhere. The filla knew nothing of death... All she knew was that she needed someone to help her... Keep her safe...
As she went on, she marveled at the sandpipers that hurried past her... If she had the energy, she'd chase them far and beyond. But now, she could barly walk. Her head began to swirls, and she collapsed. Becoming scared, she cried out for her mother... As she lay there, her smooth palomino-paint coat became washed with sea water as the tide rolled in. She needed serious help... And fast.

Only a few words were spoken as she lay weak:
"Whoever thou art who passesth by Know that my father was gentle, And my mother was violent, While I was born the whole of such hostile halves, Not intermixed and fused, But each distinct, feebly soldered together. Some of you saw me as gentle, Some as violent, Some as both. But neither half of me wrought my ruin. It was the falling assunder of halves, Never a part of each other, That left me a lifeless soul."

As the free verse reached his delicate harks, he turned and spotted the small, fragile figure lying in the surf. He dual-beated out to her, folding his forepillars into a kneel in the swirling white aqua. Nudging her with his tapered muzzle, he managed to push her gently free of the frigid tide and to a lush copse of palms. He strode deftly to a pool of fresh water nearby, snatching up a mouthful and returning to let it drip across the poor young one's velvet. The fresh water still tasted oddly basic to his salt-ridden bod, but he had nothing else to offer this creature too young to live off of palm fronds and beach grasses. Perhaps the softer grasses of the pasturage nearby would be easier for her to digest, but for the moment he stood vigilant by her side, awaiting a movement or sign of life.

She felt heself being moved, but was too weak to respond. She felt herself, feeling like a ragdoll, as she was pushed along to something soft. Everything was spinning, her voids closed. She heard all, yet could not see at that moment. As she felt the water droplets, they pestered her, and with whatever strength she had left, she opened her soft brown voids. She blinked, filling with fear as she saw the unfamiliar hellion standing above her. She tried to move, but fail to do so.

He searched deep within himself and found a shred of compassion for the unfortunate filla. An uncustomary kindness showed itself in his mahogany orbs, and he whickered gently, coaxing the young one to cling to consciousness a little longer. He would have stirred his vocals into motion, but feared his rhymes would confuse her. Plain speech was difficult for him after having used such colourful figures of such for so long.

Hearing his vocals, she was still quite frightened. "Mama..." She moved her left fore-pillar, her weak body unexpectadly jolting as she sat upright. She was quite dizzy, hunger weakening her. Whatwas to happen?

His brows knit in confusion. Where could the parents of this young one be? It was quite likely that they were no longer of this world.
Thy mother is not here, I know not where she be. No one is on my beach Save thou and me.
He explained gently, trying to simplify his lyrics while still respecting the terms of his speech.
He could see that the filla would need nourishment soon, and he plucked the tenderest grasses he could find within reach, placing them before the foal. He knew it would not suffice, but it was all he had to offer at the time.
If only she could gather her strength, then maybe he could lead her to gentler pastures and somehow extract the details of her arrival upon his lands.

She understood him slightly, understandingthat her mother wasn't there. She had to be somewhere... She watched him as he brought her the green strands, and she smelled them, shakingher tiny crania. She did not like the smell. She lifted her front pillar, a mix of gold and white, and made an attempt to stand. No luck. She fell hard, a feeling of defeat coming over her so soon.

He bowed his cranium to help lift her, trying to think of where he might locate something the filla could eat. He had but one faen, and she was not due to foal. There was nowhere he could find the life-giving elixir that was a mare's milk. He gave a sorry glance at the foal, trying not to give up.

With his help, she stood, yet barely. She nearly fell once more, splaying her legs wide to keep standing. After a few moments, she decided to try and walk, and succeeded, walking to his side, hiding from the horrid sinking sunlight that blinded her.

A grin claimed his angled features for a moment. He would have whispered encouragement or even reassurance but it unbefitted him and he remained silent. He still did not know how he would get the filla to eat, and did not wish to be responsible for her demise.

She closed her eyes tightly... She did not want to see the darkening oasis in front of her. The filla stood closer to the large stallion, wishing for protection. She was deeply frightened.

He lowered his dished visage to pull the filla closer to him, the orange and fuschia hues on the horizon signalling the descent of the sun and the impending chill of the night. He pulled together a bed of palm fronds, to keep the young equid from the touch of the soon-to-be frigid granules upon the beach. He left her side only briefly, to assail a palm tree with a mighty blow from his hindquarters. A few coconuts dropped to the sand. He skillfully dashed one against a jagged rock, splitting it open. He had done this long ago when fresh water had been far too basic for his system but he had felt the pangs of thirst. As well as coconut milk, they also contained the soft white meat of the coconut, which would prove edible to even the weak of stomach.
He brought this offering to the filla, careful not to spill any of the precious sweet coconut milk that pooled within each rough half of the fruit. With the reassurance that she might yet last another day, he lay down beside the makeshift palette he had constructed, and motioned for the foal to stay close during the night, for as the sun disappeared from the horizon, the night would grow steadily cooler.

She took his slight embrace, feeling safer. But as he wandered away from her, she felt quite frightened, unmoving. As he brought the strange thing to her, she sniffed it, and, sensing unsalted liquid, she seemed to dive into it. In a few moments, the milk was gone. Though, she did not understand that it was to be eaten, and went to Leviathan, falling against him. She looked to him with thankful orbs, and yawned. She dropped her small, soft crania to the bed below her, and looked again to the stallion, feeling somewhat tired.

In a gesture of tenderness that startled even himself, who was so prone to wickedness, he nuzzled the filla reassuringly. Seeing that she did not understand the comestibility of the coconut meat, he pried some of the soft ivory flesh from the husk, breaking it into small chunks and chewing a minute piece as demonstration. The sweet juice, reminiscent of the coconut milk that had so quickly disappeared down the filla's gullet, exploded in his mouth and he ground every drop of it from the piece before swallowing. He had forgotten what a treat such natural sugars were.
He tucked in his dramatically curved facade, preparing to doze with his cupped velvet resting on one hard muscled foreleg. As he relaxed further, the lean mean lines of his chassis softened.
