Bunched muscles elongated, he pulled ahead. His core still held a hidden reserve, one he would draw upon if the need arose. His nape, which had previously kept his dial near his chest, now extended to thrust his regal facade outward. The sand shuddered with their thunderous beats.

Nightmare not intent on being bahind him again aroused and took after him in persuit. Cathcing him she matched his pace stride for stride. With a sideways glance and a competitive grin she broke free of his match and fastened more till she was ahead yet again by 2 lengths.

('s ok.) He once again matched beats with her, savage snort released with each stride. His enamels nipped lightly at her topline, playful smirk twisting his maw. He leapt nimbly up a ridge, sand scrabbling for grip as he continued apon his high road.

Nightmare followed him, Her speed stregthening... But how much longer could they hold out this blinding speed in the desert heat? Even now as she pounded for surfaces strong enough to launch her into yet another gear she could feel the tug of the heat pulling on her. Telling her to slow, before she over exerted herself. But woudl she listen? No! Nightmare only smirked and continued on pushing her nose in front of his.

Ivories bared, they flew over the lands, sand flying out behind them. The wind in which the two thrust themselves into burned his skin. The heat beamed down on him, sweat pouring now. His coat like a river, his pillars elongated once more... His last researve. He could only go so far now... But the same he knew went for her as well.

Nightmare drew forth more courage. She had little left after this. Just enough to thrust out ahead when he tired. But how much further woudl he last? Or woudl she tire first? The Heat turned the sand to burning embers beneath their hooves, but she barely seemed to notice. On she rushed pressing him, using his strength as a weakness.

He kept on, his injured leg seering with pain. This did not trouble him to much, however. Sure, it may be tiring him, but pain only had effects on his body, not his mind. As the afternoon sun began to hit it's highest point, he didn't know how much longer he could hold on. Their paces were almost exactly the same... Off by a beat.

With the sun high in the azul heavens Nightmare knew the match race woudl end soon. At long last she drew her last reserve extending herself to her entire racing form, and giving it everythign she had. She pulled away from him a few feet, and continued pulling away more. She was 8 lenghts in the lead when she began to slow. Her pace dropped, until she was back to a trot, She watched him flash by her, but she knew it was over. She was too tired to continue. She stood on trembleing legs her head lowered, and her chest heaving.

As he flew past her, he saw that she had tired. He slowed himself, turning 'round to come back to her. He slowed to a canter, then a trot, before halting completely. HE'd never run so fast in his life. He collapsed, gasping for breath... His mind was only kept apon breathing at this point. His legs burned with the fires of the sun... He shook horribly... He'd gone too far... Then his mind wandered apon his Queen. Forcing his orbs open, he looked to her, and, in seeing her in distress, he struggle to stand. He barly walked up to her, his words sounding desperat in a way. You... Alright?

Nightmare gasped out a few breaths. "...I should... be in a..... minute..." She carefully lowered herself to the ground. Allowing deep calming breaths to fill her lungs. Slowly her breathing regulated and she relaxed, but sweat now marred her body combined wiht the blood red splotchs of their previous battle. She ignored them looking to Shadow, with what seemed liek a new light. She regarded him different knowing he too tresured speed. For none had mesured out to her as he had before. Though she knew she had only beat him in the run because of his early speed and in a true race he woudl be much more likly to beat her, for she was not meant for Sand races. But that did not matter, for she no longer detested Shadow.... as much. She still woudl not tolerate any mussy love touch, but she could live with him.... even if she thgouh he had the manners of a pig.(lol osrry, but I couldn't help myself. It sounded liek some sort of insult Nightmare would say lol)

He dropped his crania nares flared as he struggled to breath at the moment. He coughed once, clearing his throat of a mass of saliva. He stood straight, able to breath better now. Barrel heaving not as much now, sweat continued in a river mixed with the dried blood from their earlier battle as well. He aproached her, spotting an unfamiliar look 'pon her orbs.

Nightmare snorted dropping her gaze to gain her balance. Slowly she stood again. Once on her feet she gave a ferverant shake to rid the sandy remains from the pelt of dapples. Her attention at last turned to the surroundings in which they stood. She did not recognize any of it, and therefore had no idea as to where they were, or how to get back. Which once more left her in an uncomfortable position ofrelying on Sahdow. And for a mare who had always been an independant, it was hard to rely on others.
(sorry i lost my muse)

('S alright. So did I... ) He pointed his crania in her direction, then swung it in the direction in which to go. They were very near the edge of his terra... He walked on, awaiting to here her footfalls behind him.

With a nod she started at a much easier pace back the way they had come. For another run like that, and she might not make it throguh the dessert heat again. The slower pace however was proving more difficult for this dangerous mare. Being bred in a vally, and not on sand she was not used to it's texture and often sank through the granuals with ease. Allowing her pace to quicken slightly to a trot however lessened this discomfort and allowed for a much easier travel over the sands. Her ebon tresses swaying gently flacking her shoulder with heach strides downfall. And even though exaustion flagged at her every breath, she drew on eager for a quicker pace, but not dareing it on this rugged turf. For it woudl be different if she were back on green turf that propelled you foreward with power and strenght. This just goes to show you, you could take the mare out of the vally, but you couldn't take the vally out of the mare.

He smirked as she went. As she trotted on, he struggled to keep a simoltaneouas(sp?) stride with hers. He, being used to the sand, as being born in it, would have rather walked slowly, resting slightly as he went, but he knew better than to let her run off. Though her had gained his rights to her now, still in part of his corrupt mind, he was still unsure about her going out of site.
